What does PR cost in Australia? A straight answer
Most PR agencies won't give you a number until the second call. Here's what ours cost, and what changes the price.
At Stitch PR & Communications, PR starts from $1,995 for a single story, from $2,500 a month for ongoing journalist-led PR, and from $5,990 for a complete communications foundation with a first round of pitching included. We publish our prices because cost is usually the first question regional business owners have about PR, and it deserves a straight answer.
Prices vary across the industry because "PR" covers different jobs entirely: a one-off launch is a different commitment from a standing monthly program. Here's what each of ours covers.
A single story, done properly
The Headliner starts from $1,995. It covers one strong story: a journalist-shaped angle, a media release, and pitches tailored to the outlets that cover your kind of business. It suits a specific moment, such as a launch, a milestone or an appointment, rather than an ongoing need.
Ongoing, monthly PR
The Momentum Partnership starts from $2,500 a month. It covers monthly strategy, a minimum of two proactive pitching rounds each month, and daily news scanning for opportunities. Retainers exist because media relationships build over time: a journalist who has run three of your stories tends to give the fourth pitch more attention than a stranger's first.
A communications foundation
The PR Sprint starts from $5,990. It covers core messages, audience mapping, story angles and a visibility plan, with a first round of live pitching included. It's the right fit for a business that doesn't yet have a communications foundation to build on, rather than one that needs one more story placed.
What changes the price
Three things move the number most: how much strategic groundwork already exists (a business with clear messaging needs less positioning work first), how competitive the media landscape is for your sector, and whether you need one placement or a steady run of them.
Senior-led work, where the person pitching your story is the person who shaped it, can cost more per hour than a junior account team. What you get in return is that nothing is lost to handoffs or re-briefing.
What we'd tell you if you asked us directly
Every campaign we've pitched has earned coverage. No agency can guarantee placement. We simply haven't missed yet.
What a good agency can commit to is process: a credible story, sharp positioning, and pitching to outlets where it has a real chance of running.
If you want a number for your situation, that's what a first conversation is for. No obligation, and no vague pricing once you're on the phone.
