Jess, the person behind
it all

I started in newsrooms, the kind of places where a story earns its spot or it doesn't run. Sixteen years later, that's still how I work.

My early newsroom experience was at Prime7 and The Advertiser in Adelaide. I then worked as a newsreader and reporter for Canberra's Capital Radio Network (2CA and 2CC), reported on federal politics from the press gallery at Parliament House for the Fairfax Radio Network, and worked as a journalist at Radio 2UE in Sydney.

I've written the stories to go on air, pitched them to news directors, and sat on the editorial side deciding which ones deserve air time and print space.

From there I moved into communications at RSPCA NSW, the Department of Human Services (now Services Australia), the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Painaustralia and contentgroup, and in 2025 I worked inside local government as Communications and Media Officer at Orange City Council.

Along the way I've worked with agencies, not-for-profits and private enterprise, including ASX-listed companies, and my writing has appeared in BMA Magazine, Mamamia and HerCanberra.

Now I'm in Bathurst, and I keep choosing to build here, because the stories in this part of the country are as strong as any I covered in the capitals. They just need someone who knows how to get them heard.
